Edile (エデレ Edere) also known as Eater in the Viz's translation or Edere, is a part of a newer generation of Karakuri Dôji, whose function is to fill in the gaps in “good” and “evil”, left by Ultimo and Vice respectively.

He is a member of “The Seven Deadly Sins” and as such, is one of the strongest “evil” dôji seated below Vice.

Appearance[]

Edile

Edile's false appearance.

When he first appears - even by the standards of the other dôji and their respective ICON transformations - Edile is a robot of gargantuan proportions in both height and bulk, standing at nearly three stories tall. He has greatly simplified and rounded facial features, and his black hair is styled to resemble a traditional chonmage, which is reminiscent of modern day Sumo. Two purple, transparent and angular visors frame each of his eyes. The clothes that he wears are of the highest quality; featuring a piece of twisted fabric hanging from his neck and a light green hakama, tied with a white twisted sash, with extensions similar to those present on a sumo's mawashi. A large piece of white fabric hangs from the center of the sash, embellished with a single simplified image of a bear. Two prominent and robust purple mechanical gauntlets form his hands, which are unusual among dôji as they aren't ornately designed and don't extend further than the wrists. Two heart-shaped impressions are present on the underside of these gloves, giving them a similar appearance to paws.

Edile human

Edile's human form

However, the aforementioned form is not Edile's true appearance, it is instead simply a transformation. The most drastic alterations occurring between the two are in regard to his considerable size and bulk, which now undergoes a massive reduction to become comparable to those of the other dôji, while still retaining his rounded features. In his true form, Edile's appearance remains largely consistent, but he does however gain a single long trail of black hair with a green underside, which extends down his back. As a light purple-theme dôji, Edile a small purple shirt, embellished with a white-color kanji. Other changes include the loss of fabric hanging from his neck and the conversion of the symbol upon his sash is that of a white bear's paw imprint.

In his human form, Edile has more eccentric appearance than the other evil dôji's sophisticated or casual outfits. His hair color is now colored a lighter color and braided, that falls over the right side of his face, with a black fedora on top. His clothes now consist of a Hawaiian-print shirt left open, revealing a dress shirt and tie underneath, and he wears dark shorts and a pair of shoes.

After time traveling to the 1940s and staying there for three years, Edile changes to look like a miniature version of his previous false appearance. Edile became larger and fatter, but still relevantly short. In human form, he wears a light-color shirt, pants, and a military jacket with a small hat.

Robot Crest[]

After preforming the Pledge Ritual with his master, Edile's Robot Crest (Karakuri Mon) appears surrounding the entirety of the person's right forearm, taking the form of a three-fingered bear paw print.

Personality[]

While Edile is in his larger form, he typically demonstrates a largely non-vocal attitude, resulting in the reliance on observing his facial expressions and mannerisms to accurately define his current emotional state, which usually mirrors those of his master.

After reverting to his true form, Edile becomes much more vocal, boastful and shows to have a reckless personality. As the embodiment of gluttony, Edile enjoys consuming food and often eat in a unrefined manner. Even when attending a meeting with allies, Edile privately admitted that he only came to eat food.

Biography[]

The 30th Century[]

Created in the year 2989 A.D of the 30th Century, Edile was made as the embodiment of gluttony and part of the "Seven Deadly Sins" by genius scientist, Roger Dunstan, for the sole purpose of his One Hundred Machine Funeral. Together with rest of his brethren, Edile were whisked into the timestream by their creator to find appropriate masters for them and began facilitating his plans.

The 21th Century[]

Part I[]

With news of Ultimo's awakening, Edile and his master, Hana Koganei were ordered by Vice to confront them. With Edile in a false large form and Hana riding on top of his head, the duo traveled to Senjo Academy and called out to Ultimo's master, Yamato Agari. Demanding Yamato to show to himself, Edile and Hana destroyed the school's empty gym to provoke him and threatens to crush the main building next. Once Yamato summoned Ultimo over, Edile attacked Ultimo on Hana's order, but his arm was easily slice off. As the good duo transformed into their ICON, Hana urged Edile to continue to fight, but all attempts were ineffective.

After Hana fainted, God Ultimo used their Time-Sapce Noh to transformed Edile back into his true form. Bewildered by the situation, Edile prepared to escape by himself, but God Ultimo caught him and planned to interrogate him later. When Rune Kodaira and Jealous attempted to save Edile and Hana, the latter two were frozen by God Ultimo as they fight against their allies. After teleporting near Mt. Fuji, Edile and Hana were handed off to Goge and the rest of the The Good Dôji Club, so God Ultimo can fight unhindered. As the rest of the The Evil Dôji Branch arrived, Désir's nullifying Noh undo Ulitmo's, Edile and Hana to move again. Edile ripped out Goge's spirit sphere to hold him hostage and mocked his enemies for falling into the Evil Dôji Branch's ambush. As the rest of his allies slaughtered the Good Dôji Club, Edile killed Goge by crushing his spirit sphere.

Despite nearly winning, the Evil Dôji Branch's victory was halted by Yamato using the remaining energy in God Ultimo to manipulated Space-Time, rewinding time to the day before. As a result, Edile, his allies, and everyone else lost their memories of the events, with the expectation of Yamato and Musashi Murayama due to God Regla's abilities.

Part III[]

After Yamato Agari rewind time, Edile donned his human form and arrived with his master to Sparrow Place for an evening meeting of the Evil Doji Branch. Since Hana was asleep, Edile carried her on his back and ended up bickering with Avaro over their respective fashion style as soon as he arrived. They were prepare to fight, but stop when Vice made his presence known, frightening them. After killing a trio of bystanders, Vice began the meeting, but Roger Dunstan and his Karakuri Dôji Milieu appeared, causing Edile and nearly everyone else to panic.

The Evil Dôji Branch learned of "rules" for the One Hundred Machine Funeral from Dunstan and expressed displeasured at the constrictions. However, Rune Kodaira pointed out they can keep defeating their enemies until they break their spirits. Vice expressed his own distaste of these conditions and declared that he or the others didn't have to follow Dunstan's rules. After Vice challenged Dunstan to an ICON fight, Edile and the others witnessed Dunstan's overwhelming might as he easily defeated their leaders. Upon God Ultimo's arrival at the apartment, Edile watched on as the The Good Dôji Club fail to fight off Dunstan. With everyone in attendance, Dunstan explained the rules for the One Hundred Machine Funeral and reminded everyone that he was watching them before disappearing. The next day, Rune mentioned to Yamato that the entire Evil Dôji Branch agreed to go about their lives during the year-long Hundred Machine Funeral.

Once Vice's achieved his second form and stole Ultimo's Time-Space Noh, Vice transported Edile and rest of the Evil Dôji Branch via time-travel to 1944 of Japan. They lived and trained for three years in the Japanese army as they wait for the Good Dôji Club to arrived. Once Yamato and his friends in 1947, Kaizo Oume reported their enemies' arrival to the time period to the group. By the next morning, Vice ordered Edile and Hana to show themselves to the Good Dôji Club and let them know they were the same time period.

Arriving to the black market, Edile and Hana appeared before Yamato and his friends, though they had trouble recognizing the evil duo due their change in appearance. Edile started gorging down food and using his Karakuri Henge on to harassed the civilians before turning his attention to Yamato. However, Edile was pushed back by Ultimo, Regla, and Sophia, who were all hiding in wait because they already sensed their evil brethren yesterday. While they note that Edile has became stronger, Ultimo simply used his Noh to freeze Edile and Hana still. While Yamato wanted to recruit Edile and Hana over to their side, the others were unsure and eventually left them alone, choosing to let Ultimo's Noh wear off and release them naturally.

By nightfall, the Evil Dôji Branch soon accepted Makoto Sayama as a new ally, who was secretly Dunstan's daughter and has betrayed Yamato in favor joining the former to defeat her father. While watching over Yamato's actions, Vice and the group oversaw Ultimo reaching his Second state, though they were unfazed by this development. As Sayama goes to sabotaged Yamato's memories, Vice deployed Edile and some of the others as back-up. Flying to Yamato's location in their Level 2 ICON, Demon Edile engaged in battle with Akitsu Otake and Slow. However, their fight was halted by Dunstan's arrival, who was pleased how everything was going and proclaimed to everyone that the One Hundred Machine Funeral was almost over. Demon Edile watched as Yamato and Yoichi tried to fight Dunstan and failed stop him from taking Sayama to The 30th Century. Deciding to retreat, both sides ceased fighting to head back to their respective residents in order strategize their next move, though Fusataro Fussa choose to side with the opposition.

Due to how weakened the Good Dôji Club was at the moment, Vice choose to capitalize on the opportunity and conduct an ambush with the rest of the group. With Vice and his secondary master, Jun Chichibu, taking the lead, Edile and the rest were directed to follow from a distance, with the exception Kaizo, who turned against them out of self-interest. As they head towards 1947 Hibari Oume's home, Vice was intercepted by a lone Ultimo and soon a intragroup conflict broke out between Vice and Jun due the former's having a spiritual epiphany. Edile and his comrades quietly stood by until Vice called out to them to show themselves when Yamato and his allies arrived to the scene. After Yamato and Ultimo beat Vice into submission and made him an ally, both sides focused on training for their impending battle with Dunstan. When they were ready, the masters and their Karakuri Dôji heads to the 30th Century.

Edile and the rest of the Evil Dôji Branch attacked Dunstan and Milieu to buy time for the Good Dôji Club save Sayama and synchronize Ultimo and Vice's spirit spheres to form Ideos Ultimo - a form symbolizing of the unity between good and evil. Pleased by how both sides' realization of the nature of good and evil, Dunstan praised them for their efforts and revealed the real reason of his experiment was to save the future from its destruction. Dunstan then forcefully dispelled everyone else from their ICONs and immobilize the dôjis, leading all the masters to free fall in the air. Dunstan proclaimed everyone that his experiment isn't over and turned back time, but he allowed the masters to keep their memories and transformed the dôjis into humans. Choosing to stay together with Hana, Edile seemed to start attending the same elementary school as her while maintaining contact with his brethren, such as Avaro.

Relationships[]

Hana Koganei[]

Although she's a young girl, Hana has been the master of Edile through out the 21st century. Edile generally appears to be on good terms with Hana, following her every order and even shown carrying her while she sleeps to Sparrow Place. However, after losing to their first against Ultimo, he appears to lose any concern or consideration for her in his attempt to flee. Overall, he seems to get along with her and after Dunstan turns Edile into a human, Edile chooses to continue to stay and live with Hana, even attending school with her.

Avaro[]

Edile and Avaro are shown to have a rivalry and dislike each other, possibly because of their comparable heights and similar personalities. At the end of the series, it shows that despite their abrasive relationship, Avaro and Edile frequently hang out with one another once they become human.

Abilities[]

Demon Bear Claw

Demon Bear Claw

As Edile is a robot, he has displayed far greater physical strength, resilience and agility than those possessed by a normal human. In his gigantic form, simple strike conducted with little effort can completely destroy a building, such as the Senjo Academy's gym, due to the enormity of his fists.

After training for three years in the 1940s, Ultimo and the other good dôji notes that he grew stronger.

Karakuri Henge[]

  • Demon Bear Claw (Oni Kumade): This transformation involves Edile converting his right arm to feature greatly simplified fingers surrounding a central barrel, that is entirely contained within his forearm, the contents of which are a miscellaneous collection of items.
    • Bear Claw Circus (Kumade Saakasu): A largely indiscriminate long-range attack, that has the potential to inflict massive damage in a significantly wide spread area. The technique itself is initiated through firing the mass of objects associated with subsequent transformation, these proceed along individual yet completely random trajectories until they collide with a target. The effect of this severely restricts control, so the attack only requires being aimed in the general direction of a specific target. It has been suggested that the ability is capable of easily decimating the entire Senjo Academy.
  • Gravity Slap (Juu Ryoku Harite): Using an empty enormous right hand, Edile launches a powerful flat-palmed swipe directed towards the opponent. Although, the abilities name heavily implies an association with gravitational forces, due to Ultimo's intervention the true nature of the attack is currently unknown.
